Blue Laser - Impact on DVD???

There is a blue laser that can read smaller 'pits' on a disc allowing for greater storage capacity. This capacity could be filled with more material such as longer playing time and extras or a higher resolution....such as the magical HD-DVD. It would be nice if high defention DVD was coming next year but I am not holding my breath. The studios seem reluctant to release copies of their movies that are of such high quality. Even if they do, they will require some strong copy protection method. When will HD-DVD come out? Who knows if ever as the studios even fought Toshiba's progressive scan DVD (7108). For now I think the best bet is progressive scan DVD players such as the Toshiba 5109 if your display can support it. The price is real resonable. I am trying to get me a Sony 7700 to replace my Panasonic unit if I am allowed. Have you heard of the cube thingy? (the crystal storage medium?) Another storage medium that is rumored to replace even HD-DVD. It is suppose to be here next year as well. I'll see it when it happens. However DVD and HT in general is changing pretty rapidly right know. HDTV, DD-EX, HDCD and SuperAudio Disc ect...Thats the thing about the future, it is uncertain. I give our current DVD's at least a three year life span before something competes with it. Remember, DVDs seems to be replacing VHS. Maybe there will be one in every house like a VCR and be around for a couple of decades while a new HD-DVD will be like laserdisc, a high end costly niche product.?.?.?.
