After a fair amount of on-line research (but no side by side comparison), I have decided to purchase an SD-3109 when they hit the street. But, since I do NOT have a 16:9 video screen, I am worried by the comments above on Toshiba's poor method for downconverting anamorphic DVDs. Not an HT expert, I would like to know how serious of a problem this will be for me. I do know something about signal sampling rates, and any time you drop scanlines (or any picture/audio data), you are moving towards a lower quality picture -- but is this significant to what the human eye can discern ?? I am surprised Toshiba's newest (4th gen?) DVD players would fall prey to this type of video problem when there are so many of us with 4:3 video screens out here.

Comments and recommendations appreciated.
