I have the 61" HD-ready Toshiba as well, and I *do* have the problem, but not as bad as you.

If you feel ambitious, like the set otherwise, and can't return it (if you can, get the Toshiba for about the same money), get inside and staple black velour to absorb stray light, which bounces from the rear of the screen back inside and reflects off the walls.

When I had my set ISF'd, I could see that the flat black paint inside still reflected quite a bit.
