Reliable Playing... 100% or Not ?

Posted by Andrew H. [IP: 12.74.140.210] on March 28, 1999 at 12:36:59
Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; MSN 2.5; Windows 95):

I'd like to know:
1) Do the current DVD players give 100% service?
2) Do ALL of your DVDs play each time?
3) Do they play without video breakup / *squares* ?
4) Do you return new titles as *defective* or bad copies?
5) Do they play without audio dropouts? (2108 issues aside, please)

You should understand my question. I played my Antz last nite and had chronic audio dropouts. I'm still using my PC-based hardware-Cinemaster of a year ago.

When I purchase a *new* player (Toshiba or Panasonic) should I expect 100% performance?

My wife, in particular, would prefer VHS from a reliability standpoint! HELP!! This really gets to be an issue when you start *stockpiling* titles you've NOT viewed. I mean, if there ARE bad copies (in my collection), I wouldn't want to find this out months (or years) later!

I'd read a post (on FPTV) where the author was pursuing a PC-based *progressive* solution. Should HE expect poor performance because it IS PC-based?

Thanks for the help...
Andrew
