occasional Wavey lines on screen with DVD

Using Mozilla/4.07 [en] (Win95; I):

I was wondering if anyone could help - sometimes when i'm watching a dvd, i notice small bursts of wavy interference coming onscreeen. I don't have anything near the TV screen that would be causing it - how far away should the dvd player be from the TV? And could this be happening due to the outlet and/or power strip??
