You need to adjust the monitor's picture for an optimal laserdisc image using Video Essentials on laserdisc. These settings will almost certainly not be the same as for optimal reproduction of DVD.

When optimally set up, a 4:3 laserdisc image looks quite good (assuming a good transfer). Letterboxed laserdiscs will exhibit less resolution.
