S-video or DVD component video connectors

Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows 98):

Is there any noticible difference between the S-video and the DVD component connectors. I intend buying a projection TV. My choice will either be the Sony 41" or the Panasonic 43". The Sony has component connectors the Panasonic doesn't, but it is 2" larger. there are other differences in features, but this is the one that I dont know much about. I would also appreciate any comments on my choices of the above TVs, good or bad. Thanks
