JVC HR-S3500 SVHS has noisy picture

Go to DejaNews and do a search for keywords like "JVC", specific current and past S-VHS model numbers, "sparkle", "white streak", etc. You'll see a ton of postings on it. The summary is this: There is a design flaw in the grounding between the two halves of the video head drum. It is insufficient. This causes static build up and small discharges between the two pieces. Those discharges become visible on the screen as those white sparkles. It happens less with higher quality tapes. It happens less when the environment is more humid. There is also a fix that is performed by some repair centers and even some individual users on their own, with mixed result. I own an S-VHS JVC myself (HR-S9400), and as for me, I have found the solution in high-quality tapes. I use professional grade Fuji tapes and the problem "almost never" happens. If you need further help finding information, send me an e-mail.
