Sorry to hear about your Sony problems.I am a bench tech with 25 years experience at a major repair facility. We are factory authorized Sony, Thompson ( RCA,GE ) and Phillips (Magnavox,Sylvania). Unfortunately, training and support-wise, Sony is one of the worst (in my opinion). However, the best training in the world will not compensate for an incompetent technician and this is the sad situation we face today. The complexity of consumer electronics increases daily as the skill level of techs decreases. The electronics industry (design and manufacturing ) takes the best and brightest and the repair industry is left with the dregs. Ask any tech school or AA graduate which job they would rather have, starting at Motorola for $22.00 an hour or entry level consumer electronics tech for $12.00.I don't think that's a very hard choice! On top of that, most, if not all tech schools don't even teach consumer electronics anymore due to the poor pay and career prospects. So what you are left with is a "mentoring" method of instruction where someone with more experience than you passes on his knowledge and you hope he is right. We employ approx. 15 "site" techs where I work. I wouldn't trust any of them to change a fuse without blowing something up!! So basically what I'm saying is that if you want your TV diagnosed correctly, have it picked up and taken to a shop where the good techs and proper test equipment are. Very best of luck with your Sony. I hope you can find someone that knows what they are doing to repair it for you!!
