Consider reversing your question...

Has anyone attempted to use a high-end business projector (my eye is on the InFocus LP435z - based on TI's DLP, 1024 x 768 resoloution, very bright) with a PC + tv decoder + DVD&decoder for home entertainment?

Consider also: HDTV decoders for PC's are in development and expected to cost around $300. There is also already on the market a DVD decoder for PCs that decodes the DVD in its native progressive format. And lastly, as I looked up the URL below, I found that InFocus (along with probably all its competitors) is adding the new digital
display interface to its lineup; With a digital source (DVD), digital decode, digital interface, and digital display (DLP projector), the only analog step in watching a movie would be within your own "wetware!"

The ONLY downsides I can think of is that to use a front projector, your room has to be perfect -- like a movie theater. And the projector has a fan that could be annoying...

On top of all that, the projector+PC only costs about $7k, and prices are coming down.

HDTV, DVD, tv w/film quality, $7000...

Why WOULDN'T this be the ultimate home-theater setup?
