Hi Navaz,

It is my understanding that the TP61H95 does not natively display a 16:9 image. It will be the job of the STB to perform this and pass it to the set. How it will actually be displayed on the unit will be dependent on the STB you use. Again, this is my understanding thus far.

Check out this news release from Toshiba where they describe the new TV line-up for 1999.
http://www.toshiba.com/tacp/cgi-bin/frames.cgi?right=hdtv99.html&inner=1&group1=categories&group2=news&left=menu.html If you are interested in their HDTV sets it may be worth the wait. The new improvements that they are introducing with their HDTV line-up makes them really interesting. But as far as DTV-ready sets, I believe this is it. I did read somewhere, memory fails me at this time, that there will be a new DTV-ready 40" 16:9 set with a line doubler that will replace the TW40H80. I also read that there will be a 56" 16:9 DTV-ready set. But I don't have the links to pass on. Perhaps someone else can verify this information.

If your main source will be 16:9 material, specially anamorphic transfers in DVD, I would definitely go with the TW65H80. It is just a great set. But if 4:3 will be your main source, and you don't mind the downcoverted letterbox format from DVD, the TP61H95 may be the way to go. You need to identify what will be your main use for the set. I know 3K is a lot of money to decide.

Regards,

Leo
