Hitachi TVs - any good?

There is one of those warehouse clearance stores not too far away that is selling reconditioned Hitachi TVs.

Two models caught my eye, a projection model 50SBX78B and a direct view model 36UX58. From the web searching I've done both models seem to be current and are Hitachi's top-of-the-line non-digital sets. The picture quality seems good but there is nothing else to compare with in the store.

The TVs carry a 30-day money back store guarantee and the salesperson claims they also have Hitachi warranty plus availability of extended warranty. The prices are very tempting at 65% of the prices I've found on the web.

The big question is....are these models of Hitachi TVs good as far as industry reputation, picture quality, reliability, and serviceability (heaven forbid that would be necessary any time soon)?
