I have had my Hitachi 55UX58B for about two months now and I could'nt be more pleased with it. I calibrated it with AVIA recently and the picture is stunning. To get the most out of any RPTV you really have to watch a clean video source (i.e. DVD). The large picture will magnify any imperfection in your video source (cable is almost unbearable).

As for the price on the Hitachi's, all I can say is shop around. Hitachi was my first choice when I started looking, but I began seriously considering the Toshibas because of the price difference. To make a long story short, a regional electronics dealer "REX" advertised the 55UX58B for $1995 and even throws in a two year warranty for free. Even though the Hitachi still ended up being a little more than the Toshiba, I opted for it because of Hitachi's reputation for using high quality optics in their RPTV's.

Hitachi does'nt seem to quite have their marketing act together like Toshiba does, but don't overlook them for that reason.
