What a bunch of baloney! I would demand warranty service and if they keep jacking you around, call Hitachi. This is not normal and is not acceptable, either. I have the same set, slightly older version. I've never experienced these problems.

You didn't say whether the entire set shut off or just the sound, in the most recent incident. If the sound only, there is clearly a problem with the on-board amps. These are crappy anyway, I'd add a 5.1 amp and some decent speakers ASAP.

Make sure all your connections are tight, and carefully note what is happening. Then raise hell until you get proper service!
