Is it worth buying the same brand components?

I was wondering how many people accually buy the same brand name components to match the rest of the system?

The reason I ask is that I have Sony ES50 reciever, Sony VHS and Sony TV. I like the Sony DVP-S7700 but it is very expensive. I was considering the Pioneer DV-414 but then I would have to use 2 remote controls (the touch screen remote from Sony ES50 does very basic functions on Pioneer DVD. it does not have a DVD menu button or arrows).

Please let me know of what most people think about mixing components.
