Confused about RPTV Comb Filters

Posted by Thomas Webb [IP: 152.202.48.254] on January 27, 1999 at 17:17:54:

Some sources state that there are four types of digital comb filters, in order of ascending quality: digital, 2-line, 3-line and 3D Y/C. Other sources state that there are only two types: 2D Y/C and 3D Y/C. They state that the digital, 2-line and 3-line are all really alternate names for the 2D Y/C. Which is correct? since a big deal is often made that a 3-line is better than a digital or 2-line.
I am considering the purchase of one of the following 55" RPTV's: Hitachi 55UX58B; Toshiba TP55H95; Sony KP53V75; Sony KP53XBR45 (last year's model I believe); Mitsubishi VS-55601 and Proscan PS56670. How would these be ranked in terms of picture quality and reliability?
