Question for Sony 36XBR owner... Thanks in advance Posted by Andy [IP: 167.206.214.36] on January 28, 1999 at 20:54:09: In Reply to: Question for Sony 36XBR owner... Thanks in advance posted by Lincoln C. on January 28, 1999 at 20:25:17: If I read this right you have vertical bowing (top to bottom) which usually can be adjusted out, sometimes with simple brightness- contrast controls or in the service menu. Before you call an ISF tech I would call Sony (1-800-222-SONY) and get a service rep to look at it. If the bowing had been horizontal (left to right) the problem would be much worse. The horizontal bowing problem plagues the 36" WEGA's especially mfg before December (there is some proof that Sony "fixed" the problem around December 18th). The only way to fix the horizontal bowing is to replace the yoke on the set with a re-designed unit and I would recommend replacing the whole set (you bought a new TV not a refurbished unit, did'nt you?). I am awaiting a replacement for my seriously bowed November mfg. 36xbr200. I'm of the opinion that Sony rushed the set out for Christmas even thought they must have known there was a serious problem and is now fixing the problem. They have great engineering/ design but are a lousy company when it comes to production or customer relations. They are ruining a reputation that took a lot of years to build in a very short time.
