Pioneer DV-414 and Sony 9000es Posted by Tim S. This is the law and is for copyright protection. Don't ever trust what a commissioned salesperson tells you. They will tell you anything that you want to hear! Look at the manual in the digital output setting setup. It states right there that it will only pass 48 Khz signals through the digital outputs. If the signal is 96 Khz, it will only be output through the analog outputs. If you want that signal to be output through the digital output you must select the 48 Khz setting. This down converts the 96 Khz signal to a 48 Khz signal that can be digitally outputted legally. No player on the market can output a 96 Khz signal digitally through a coaxial or optical output. JVC has their own special connector, the K2, to transfer 96 Khz digital signals to their own receivers. This connector does not allow copying and still keeps the copy protection in tact.
