Pioneer DV-414 and Sony 9000es Posted by Bryan P. Especially since I spoke with Theta and they confirmed what I said. Since they also have a special connection for their own equipment, he may have been speaking about that but it certainly was not the impression I got. I was told that the DVD audio digital outs will have to comply with the downconversion. However, the DVD digital outputs when playing a DAD in the player will pass the 96KHz signal. Where do you see this in the manual? I am looking at mine on page 30. It says you MAY set it to 48KHz if you wish. It also states that SOME 96KHz DVDs are copy protected. These will provide NO output from the digital outputs. It also states that you should "set the output to 96 KHz for connection to an AV amplifier compatible with 96KHz linear PCM." 48KHz is the factory default setting as denoted by the "*" but it also clearly shows that you can set it to 96. Unless my manual, the dealer, and Theta are all wrong, I should be able to pass the full 96KHz signal to the preamp for decoding.
