I purchased one recently here in Australia. The mod was done when the players come in from Pioneer.

Apparently, due to Pioneer having problems with dodgy mods, they are sending the units out to another company to have the mod done. This then means that warranty is not void.

Sorry - I don't know what the mod involves but after the mod has been done, playing of all DVD's is automatic without having to select the zone in any way.
