Pioneer DV-414 and Sony 9000es Posted by Bryan P. I also live in the U.S. The number on the bottom of each page which I believe to be the document control number is VRB1199. Page 26 in mine is the beginning of the section on how to change initial setup parameters of the unit. In your other message you state that your Panasonic unit downconverts to 48KHz. This is in line with what I stated since Panasonic is OEM'd by Matshusta. I have seen other Pioneer units and Theta units connected to 24/96 compatible preamps where the preamp correctly "flags" the incoming signal as 24/96 on the display. I guess I am confused as to why the law (what law?) would force this downconversion. I could see it on recorders so it could not be copied correctly. This is the paradigm that Macrovision uses. The signal is passed correctly to the receiving unit unless that unit is capable of recording. I was under the impression that this was the way it was going to be handled since this very issue is what is holding up digital recorders for both audio and video. One question...What is the value of a preamp with 24/96 DACs if the incoming signal can never "legally" be 24/96? This makes no sense unless they also use 24/96 A to D upconverting of analog signals and 24/96 digitial oversampling of incoming 16/44.1 or 48 signals.
