A/V Receiver?

Will switch BOTH S-video AND composite video to a monitor (monitor MUST have BOTH S-video and composite inputs). HOWEVER, it ** WILL NOT ** do any s-video/composite "conversion". IOW: the composite video inputs go ONLY to the COMPOSITE video out, the s-video inputs go ONLY to the s-video out. The receiver also has THREE digital inputs: 2 coax (RCA jack) and 1 optical (Toslink). The digital inputs feed a BUILT-IN DOLBY-DIGITAL DECODER! The digital inputs can be "assigned" to ANY INPUT SOURCE except: phono, VCR1, VCR2 (at least, that's what I've gathered on my Denon - see below. ;) ). It can accept the following sources: It also has a cluster of 6 RCA jacks for an OUTBOARD DIGITAL DECODER (i.e. DTS), selectable as a SEPARATE INPUT ("6 CH INPUT"). The speaker outputs can be BI-WIRED for the FRONT AND CENTER CHANNELS. There is also an RCA line output for a POWERED SUBWOOFER (i.e. sending the "LFE" channel in Dolby Digital mode). The retail price is UNDER $600, if my info is correct - you might be able to find it LOADS CHEAPER. According to others, Denon MIGHT be superseding this with the "AVR-2800". Finally, the power ratings are 80W for all channels in ProLogic/Dolby Digital mode. I hope this helps. I have its' "big brother", the AVR-3200, because I have a Laserdisc player and it has a built-in AC-3 RF demodulator (not needed with a DVD deck!). Ken
