Will DVD player have to recognise an EX signal?

Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; MSN 2.5; Windows 98; DigExt; msnca2):

With DTS EX and DD EX in the theatres, and announcements from manufacturers ready to put EX in their recievers, DVD software is supposed to come with EX soundtracks. Will we have to have a player to output Surround EX? It makes me sick that it is matrixed, why don't they just do it right and make it descrete? What's next? Surround EXR? With side wall speakers...it's starting to sound like a Honda...
