Are you using a Yamaha receiver by chance? I've been in touch with Toshiba tech support recently and they told me that the audio dropouts are from an incompatibility problem between my SD2108 DVD player and my Yamaha RXV-595 dolby digital receiver and there's nothing I can do about it.
