Forget the Sharp. Dust gets inside its LCD assembly over time and shows up in your picture. This is a significantly annoying distraction. If I had known about this beforehand, I never would have purchased the unit.

The Sony has some flaws you should be aware of. Its blacks are not that good even for an LCD unit (this can be corrected to some extent, but not eliminated). Its color tends toward green. Many samples have the infamous green fog problem which some find unacceptable (I returned two samples).

If you can live with its flaws (many can), it provides terrific value for the money. I enjoyed the 400 while I had it, but in the end, its flaws were too much for me. I ended up buying a Sony VPH-D50Q with Faroudja line doubler for 11k.
