Sony KV36XBR250 First Impression
Posted by Jeff Wong [IP: 24.4.254.97] on July 24, 1999 at 19:45:14 I just got back from Fry's Electronics (Fremont, California) and I just saw this new model, being a KV36XBR200 owner I carefully examined this unit, first thing I noticed is that the channel index feature was taken out (or I still didn't figure out how to activate it after 10 minutes or so with this TV), also my other favorite was the TWIN-View feature which this model didn't have either, it did have the favorite channel list only as found on the FV1 series. They set it up on the stand for the 200 model which is not compatible. It has a gold finish which kind'a looks cheap (IMHO). I know everyone reading this is probably wondering what about the convergence problem, from that demo unit that I played with, YES it still shows some convergence problem, the system was hooked up to a DSS system and I immediately notice the bowing problem on the left hand side of the screen, the unit was manufactured on July '99. One nifty feature I notice though that you can change the type of display (Standard/Movie/Sports/Vivid) without going through the main menu, there's a button of the remote which will let you switch on the fly. Can't comment on the wireless remote as the demo wasn't setup with one. Did anyone else had a chance to check-out this model? I wold like to compare with my expirience with this supposed to be better unit.
