Poor quality picture from DVD

Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows NT) via proxy gateway CERN-HTTPD/3.0 libwww/2.17:

I have a Mitsubishi 50703 and a Sony DVP-S530D. When playing a DVD through component outputs, I get vertical lines, similar to the grey stripes in "Grey stripes in picture -- Please Help! - Byron 12:15:49 04/26/99 (1)" going from left to right across the screen. They are not quite so bad using S-video. I used the Sony cable supplied and some Monster cables but the effect is the same. Is this the same problem as above? Is there anything I can do about it?
