Sony Projector for dummies

Using Mozilla/4.08 [en] (WinNT; I ;Nav):

Hi all,

I may have a great buy on a VPH1031q, or a VPH1270q, but I have never come into contact with one before. This would actually be my first projector.

If I remove 95% or more of the ambient light how would either of these projectors compare with regular television (direct view)? I plan on setting it up at 100" diagonal. The guy selling it to me is guaranteeing it to work and I am paying him about 650.00.

Please, any help in a timely manner would be greatly appreciated.
