Sending Video via Amplifier

Posted by Paul A G Wilson [IP: 130.95.33.192] on July 31, 1999 at 01:44:52
Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows 98):

Apologies if this has been covered previously.

I was wondering what advantages there are in running video output through your amplifier ? My amp has S-video inputs/outputs, but I bypass them and send the output from my LD directly to my TV, on the assumption that the less `links in the chain`, the better. Apart from amp status being displayed on the TV, and the possibility of increasing the number of video inputs, are there any other plusses ? Does the amp strengthen or filter the signal ?

Thankyou in advance.
