Screen protectors reflect much more ambient light back to your eyes. It limits resolution, potential noticable shadow detail and light output. Not recommended if can be avoided. I'd recommend replacing the screen of the set as well with say, a Stewart Filmscreen. Better light output, reduces the hotspot and gets the projector to display closer to the correct colour temperature when calibrated. It's well worth the investment.
