pioneer sd-t50w1(E.U model) with an N64 - Problems

Posted by Richard Gittens [IP: 212.212.93.241] on August 28, 1999 at 20:37:55
Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows 95):

My rear projection TV is 2 years old and at the moment I'm having trouble playing my N64 on the television via scart lead.

The scart signal from my N64 seems to be too strong for my TV to take. The picture appears extremely bright with lots of contrast. When the N64 displays whites and other bright colours the TV picture often breaks up with the picture either rolling or the brightest parts of the screen distorting with jagged lines.

I've tried lowering the brightness and contrast levels on the TV itself but the overall picture quality becomes unsatisfactory.
It does help slightly with darker colours but the bright whites, yellows etc still keep their intensity.

This problem happens when using my N64 via scart(which I want to use to achieve a sharper picture and stereo sound), s-vhs lead, and even composite pal lead. But not when I use the N64 via the RF lead.

I have used a playstation with and without scart and that works fine as does my DVD player via S-VHS connection.

Has anybody out there had the same problem or know how I can fix it?

Thanks

Richard Gittens
