It's been my experience that you should not buy extended warranties unless one of the two is true:

* The device has internal moving parts (i.e. a DVD player, VCR, etc.)
* The device is too big to easily bring in for repair

Since I doubt if you are the type that can simply toss a 36" TV over your shoulder and jog to the nearest repair center, it's probably a good idea to consider spending the 15% extra.

BTW, $300 is approximately what you would pay for a single repair including the home visit. My old 27" TV had such a warranty and it would have cost me about $200 for the repair it needed - ya gotta think the new TV would be more.

That said, the profit in extended warranties is enormous, so see if you could get a similar warranty elsewhere for less money (call around).
