Recommendations for a low budget Hi-fi VCR

Check out RCA "Home Theater Series" Hi-Fi VCRs for between $200-300 (depending on features). I believe GE (same company) has Hi-Fi units usually for $50 (or so) LESS than their "equivalent RCA counterparts". Toshiba and Sharp seem to be good players too, according to many denizens of this forum. :) That's all that immediately comes to mind for brands. I ** STRONGLY SUGGEST ** taking one or two of your favorite videos and one or two "home-recorded" jobs to your local Electronicks Shoppe (i.e. Circuit City, Sears, Bad Guys, etc.) and try the tapes in different machines. NOTE: The HOME-RECORDED jobs will really test the machines, especially any recorded in 6-hr "SLP" mode! Once you've "seen the lot", decide which one(s) perform the best TO YOU, then make the final decision based on features, ease of use, "noise level" and finally, PRICE! This is the absolute best "advice" I can give you. I hope it helps and happy shopping. :) Ken
