Which TV?

Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows 98; DigExt):

I am so confused. I am looking to spend between 2 and 3 grand (US $) to buy an new tv. The question is, which one?

If you had asked me 4 weeks ago, I would have said Sony Wega. When I first saw the Wegas at the Sony store here in Chicago (about 18 months ago) I fell in love, and set out on the road to buy one. I was getting ready to buy a 36XBR250, especially because of the whole anamorphic DVD compression thing. Now that I am almost ready, I am more confused than ever.

Since I first saw the Wegas, things have changed a lot. We are one year closer to HDTV, and there are a ton of HDTV ready or Digital ready products out there, things like the Toshiba 40” Widescreen RPTV (even though I would rather have direct view) or the Panasonic with the built in line doubler or progressive scan.

So, now my question. As my friends in the UK might say, “Wot Telly?” Are there any articles on the web or in print that compare the latest and greatest TV’s? (I am jealous of the UK, if only because they have T3 magazine.) Also, any input from the wise readers of this forum would be greatly appreciated.

I am ever greatful for any answers.
