How About a Reliable Player

I remember the first Laserdisc players had a heckuva problem with many platters (can you say "Disc-O-Vision"? ;) ). Therefore, IMHO, much of the blame needs to be laid at the feet of the disc pressers. Now, I won't discount the existence of "cheap" hardware (i.e. Samsung). However, getting an established name-brand deck from Sony, Panasonic, or even Pioneer will give you "satisfaction". As it is, the MAJORITY of DVD platters have NO PROBLEMS in today's machines - those platters being the ones without lots of "tricks" and "goodies". It's the "jam-packed" discs like "Matrix" that give players fits (maybe they're "test discs" in disguise? ;) ). Anyhoo, that's my piece. FWIW, I'm VERY DISCRIMINATING regarding movie purchases - I DO NOT "buy them all" like many do. :) Ken
