10 meters S-VHS cable; DVD R1 ok and R2 problems??

Using Mozilla/4.7 [en] (Win98; I):

I got this strange problem: I have Sony 715 codefree DVD player and a Hitachi projector. I'm using a 10 meter S-VHS cable of good quality to connect them. When I watch Region 1 movies there are no problems. When I watch a Region 2 movie the image is al messed up; it's very bright and has a great deal of distortion. When I use a normal 1.8 meter cable there is no problem with Region 2 movies. So the lenght of the cable matters between Region 1 and 2 movies. Is there some way I can solve this problem? First idea would be to use a shorter cable, but I'm affraid that's no option in my living situation. Are there any devices that amplify the
S-VHS signal??? I prefer using the S-VHS cable for the better quality; at the moment the only way I can watch Region 2
movies is using a coax connection for that (although I haven't tried that yet). All ideas and suggestions are welcome!

Tim
