The Ultimate All-In-One Question

The PC is the centre of activities in my home theater. I play the games on my NTSC RPTV, just in 640x480 hi-colour, but it's surprisingly good. Also I connected the SoundBlaster to the analogue inputs of my receiver and play the game audio through the H.T. audio system and speakers. It's very impressive. I don't think you need dual PIII-450s to play Quake, it's really all in the AGP. And YES you can damage your RPTV's CRTs by playing video games on it. I keep the brightness and contrast down and play it in the dark. No problems so far. By the way, the dark makes the games so much more 'real'. You should change your room to have full control of the lighting - even for watching movies the TV works much better if it is not competing with daylight. You are on the right track. I think that the PC will definitely be the centre of action in home entertainment. After all they are 'universal' sources of programming material, DVD, CD, games, Internet content - which will include programming. IMO they have a way to go to be quality audio and video sources, but it's happening. Rodent
