Should A/V Receiver's do it all

Using Mozilla/4.5 [en] (Win98; I):

I would like to get consumers opinion on the following question.

Should A/V (Home Theatre) Receiver's only do Audio swithching, processing and only video switching or also do video processing like, compression artefacts reduction, noise reduction and de-interlacing.
