HElp me connect DVD to AC3 receiver??

Using Mozilla/3.04C (Win95; I):

I just purchased a new Panasonic DVD-X410u DIVX/DVD/CD player and want to connect it to my Denon 3600 receiver in order to get AC3/5.1 playback.

The panasonic DOES NOT have a built in DTS/AC3 decoder. However I think My denon 3600 does. Is this correct?

I used the digital coaxial output of the DVD and ran it into the coaxial input of the receiver. It however has 2 types of input one for ac3 one for normal.

Which do I use? I can get sound from the normal input but not 5.1 sound. I played deep impact DIVX that shows 5.1 but I only got front 3 channels.
