wait a second... are you saying that when you have a digital input selected, you can only be in dolby digital or dolby pro-logic? i'm not right next to my denon right now, but i think that's not correct. sometimes i connect my cd player via it's digital optical output (using it as a transport, and the denon's dacs), and i can still use all the dsp modes. it doesn't make sense that the denon would only want to do a a/d conversion for dsp stuff, then d/a convert it back, but not want to touch a pure digital signal! sorry if i am misunderstanding what you're saying, but something seems fishy here...
