Help...hookup DSS to receiver and VCR

Posted by Peach [IP: 207.32.11.152] on May 31, 1999 at 14:58:59
Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows 98):

I have my video working ok it seems? But the audio isn't working right? I have a DSS system and am trying to record in stereo surround .... is that possible?
My audio out of the DDS is going to the audio in (video 1) of the receiver and then out of it to the VCR. Out of the VCR to the receiver in (video 2). When I watch it and get full surround sound stereo I have everything on video 1 and set the TV input to 1 and everything is great. When I record, it does but to watch it I then have to switch to video 2 on the receiver and once you push play you are extemely disappointed.
Is this hookup correct? These books DSS, TV, receiver and VCR all chase each other without showing how to correctly hook this stuff up. As I said the video seems to be ok but the audio is off?
Any idea's? Is there somewhere on the net that has generic hookups to view and choose ... a few idea's and pictures would be of great help. Being told exactly what I have wrong would be even better!
