If the DVL-90 only had 8-bit video, then that's another difference between DVL-90 and DVL-91. I know their were a couple of things I didn't like about the DVL-90 (so I didn't consider it), but the only one I remember was the DTS support (also maybe the lack of component outputs, but I don't remember). The DVL-919 is perhaps close to the DVL-91 (an Elite) but a little bit later version since it has 24-bit DAC (vs. DVL-91's 20-bit). Since I use externals DACs (DSP-A1 for DD and DTS and Parasound 1100 for CD and HDCD), the Pioneer's internal DAC doesn't matter to me. Yes, I agree, CDs sounds great through the Parasound. Even I (non-golden ear) can hear a difference between the DSP-A1's DAC and the Parasound's.
