Bryston makes a VERY nice phono stage too that is priced in your ball park.

I have never put my hands on one, but even the little Creek units sold by Audio Advisor are reportedly very nice for around $200 (they sure are great headphone amps!)

I do agree with you and Alan, the phono stage is your next move.
