Sell off or mix and match Yamaha amps? Honestly don't sweat the power matching all around - I would keep the M80 at the front mains and place the M40 at the surrounds - unless it has a bridge option - then run it in bridged mode for the center. I don't recall on that amp. Then add an amp for the center - or surrounds if the M40 can be bridged. That vintage Yamaha power amp does pop up once in a while in the used market - so maybe you can locate another one of the same or similar vintage Yamaha amps and have a far better sounding system. Alan : I have a couple of older Yamaha power amps (M-80/250 wpc 8 ohms, M-40/120 wpc 8 ohms) and want to get my HT system to equal (or near equal) power on all five channels. Should I keep the M-80 or M-40 for rear surround amp and buy a new amp for the front three, or get rid of them all and buy a big 5 channel amp?
