Inverted outputs on Yamaha C80 preamp.

Posted by Todd [IP: 206.10.59.241] on December 29, 1998 at 15:39:15:

There are a pair of pre-out jacks labled "Inverted" next to the standard "Non-inverted" pre-out jacks.

According to the owners manual I can connect one channel of a two-channel amplifier to the "left inverted" jack and the other amplifier channel to the "left non-inverted" jack then connect a speaker to both positive terminals on the amplifier for increased output from the amp. The connection diagram shows two amplifiers connected in this manner, one for each channel.

I understand that bridging an amplifier should theoretically quadruple the non-bridged output, but I don't think this configuration is a bridged setup.

Question - What would be the theroetical output of a 250 wpc amp connected in this configuration and how do you arrive at that conclusion?
