: : I want to make up my own interconnect cables using Intercomp RG58A/U, 20
: : awg stranded core & shielded, type CL2 50 ohm. Is this cable ok to use, will I get good sound quality from them? I believe it is silver coated copper strands.

: I don't know about the specific cable you mention. I too am playing around with the idea of making my own interconnects. I stumbled across a recipe for cables made with 30 AWG Kynar wire wrap (available as 278-501, 278-502 and 278-503 from Radio Shack). Have not gotten around to actually making these cable yet as they are fairly labor intensive. But I thought I'd pass the info along.

I've made a few cables using 30AWG wire (braided) with cheap Radio Shack connectors (RCA). The results have been quite good. I replaced some Kimber PBJ with my homemades, and there's really not much diff (except, of course, I think my homemades are better -- but I'm not biased, oh, no, not me...)
