: : Sadly I don't have a Tannoy dealer anywhere near me so I can't comment on the M2's. With Paradigm I do recommend going up higher in the line than the Mini... it's a good speaker but let's head upward a bit. Don't forget the Sound Dynamics 300Ti from Audio Advisor at $500 with stands.

: The Tannoy M2 I mentioned are bokkshelf speakers at the same price point as the Mini-monitors so I guess you think I should shoot higher than that. In the Paradigm line might you be thinking the Monitor 3 or Monitor 5? Maybe the Phantom or is that too close to the Titan.
: I believe the Monitor 5 is a floor stander. Do you think floor standers are appropriate for my room which is a modest 12.5ft by 14ft? The speakers would be facing the long wall.
: Do you have any thoughts on speakers from NHT, PSB or B&W or any other companies?
: I saw the Sound Dynamics 300ti in Audio Advisor. They are intriguing. Have you heard them?
: Thanks for your help Alan.

: Happy Holidays

Hi,

Tannoys mercury series are very good speakers... personally I like their sound better than the Paradigm. One problem with the Tannoy is that they do not have biwirable terminals.. so if you want to bi-amp in the future, you will not be able to. However,, If you like the paradigm, I suggest you go with the Monitor 7. They are more musical. I had a demo on both the Monitor 5 and Monitor 7 and for a little more more $$$ monitor 7 is a better buy. I used James Taylor latest CD... track #4 (GAII ... don't know if I spelled that right). Anyways, about 4 minutes in the track it goes down real low and the monitor 5 clipped whereas the monitor 7's did not. Also, in all the reviews I read, monitor 7 is an excellent value for the price and it is highly recommended..
But just don't take my advice, go to a dealer and have them both demo'd to you.

PS... monitor 5 and up are floor standers.

Regards,
J.D.
