Mike,

Two thoughts come to mind here. First I want to be sure the amplifier is the culprit - not a preamplifier ahead of it that is discharging while the power amp can still reproduce audio.

If the problem definitely is the amplifier, I suggest you build an external relay box which would be installed between the amplifier and speakers. The relay coils should be a low voltage type and could be operated by an AC adaptor which would be in a switched outlet elsewhere in the system. I would use a double-throw relay(s) and place a resistor at the normally closed end to allow the amplifier to discharge while the relay has the speaker disconnected. A 10 ohm high wattage resistor (or a 12 volt automotive light bulb) should do the trick.

Good luck,

Alan

: I am using a BK St 140 power amp which does not have built in relays,i notice that my amp has
: a tendency to discharge some sort of signal after i turn it off.A few seconds after switching off the
: amp some sort of sound comes out thru my speakers. How can i solve this problem? Will fitting
: Relays internally help? Also there is a slight thumping sound from my speakers when\ i turn on my
: amp.Any Advice??
