: : : I am considering replacing my ancient Sony 5-disc CD changer with a new unit. In comparing the sound of the same CD between my CD player and DVD player I have noticed that the sound from the DVD player is significantly better, however, I do not want to use my DVD player as my primary CD-playback device. Does anybody have any opinions on what is the best 5-disc changer on the market right now? It must have its own D/A convertor; I am not interested in buying a separate D/A convertor. Also, I am not too keen on CD players with greater than a 5-disc capacity.

: : : Also, are there any good reference papers where I can read up about 24-bit/96kHz?

: Thanks for the reply. I have done a bit of research since my posting and have decided that $1,000 is my upper limit.

For under $600 you can get the adcom gcd-700.
a step up from that would probably be the CAL CL-10. I purchased mine for $1200 + shipping.

hope this helps
