: Wonder if anyone can tell me what is the
: polarity invert button for?
: Also what is the De-emphasis LED for?

: Bought the DAC 2nd-hand,so no manual and also my first venture into DAC's.

: Also i noticed that when i turn on my living room lights or other appliances there is some sort of disturbance while the DAC is playing??The music sort of goes off then on again in a split Second??My DAC is plugged directly into the wall socket,do i need some sort of Filter??Appreciate the help.Thanks.

The manual is very brief and is of no help describing these things. I forgot what it said about the invert polarity button other than something stupid like 'it inverts the polarity' (obviously wasn't memorably). For the de-emphasis LED, it's supposed to come on for CD's where this de-emphasis thing was used (no it doesn't really say what it is, it might be some of sort of equalization thing). I've only ever seen if come on for one CD, the first Fresh Aire (Manheim Steamroller) album.

I've never noticed any weird operatoring situations (except the power cord doesn't seem to fit tight into my unit, easily comes off if I'm moving things around), but then I do have one of the protection filter things (probably recommended in all cases anyway). Maybe the digital stream is getting disrupted from your cd-transport.

I assume you are using the proper cable from the CD-transport. If you are using an optical cable, make sure it is properly installed. The ends of the optical cable I have running from my satellite receiver has the tendency to come apart (easily fixed, but I figure this could let in light maybe causing a disruption to the data, though I've never seen it happen). I use a coaxial 'digital' cable from my DVD/LD player.
